New York (Showbiz Desk) The grand celebration of global fashion, art, and culture was once again held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as part of the Met Gala 2026, drawing worldwide attention.
This year’s theme, “Costume Art,” allowed designers to present clothing not merely as fashion but as complete works of art.
Indian representation stood out prominently at the event, especially Isha Ambani, whose golden-threaded saree became the center of attention. The outfit was designed by renowned Indian designer Gaurav Gupta and is being praised as a beautiful fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern fashion.
According to the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, more than 50 skilled artisans worked on the saree, taking nearly 1,200 hours to complete. The outfit featured pure gold threads along with fresco-inspired design elements, making it a true masterpiece.
Isha Ambani complemented her attire with precious jewelry belonging to her mother Nita Ambani, further enhancing her elegant appearance.
This year, Indian participation was not limited to film stars only; business leaders, social figures, and other prominent personalities also attended. Filmmaker Karan Johar made his debut appearance at the event, showcasing outfits featuring traditional Indian painting and intricate zari work.
Other Indian attendees such as Natasha Poonawalla, Ananya Birla, and Sudha Reddy also highlighted Indian culture, heritage, and modern fashion on the global stage through their distinctive ensembles.
