Washington (Web Desk): Meta has agreed to pay a $16.7 billion fine, approximately Rs27 trillion, over allegations that it made children addicted to social media. US states filed a lawsuit against Meta, accusing the company of exploiting children’s young age to encourage them to use its social networking platforms for longer periods while concealing information about the harmful effects of social media. Under the agreement, users under 18 will be limited to two hours of daily use, access will be blocked from midnight to 6 a.m., and strict age verification will be mandatory. These safety measures will remain in effect for ten years.
