California (Web Desk) — Microsoft and Nvidia have announced progress on a new laptop equipped with advanced artificial intelligence technology, aimed at expanding the use of autonomous AI on Windows computers. The proposed device has been named the “Surface Laptop Ultra.”
According to the report, the project aims to develop Windows computers capable of running AI agents that can perform coding and other complex tasks without relying on cloud services for every operation. This could shift some workloads currently handled by expensive data centres to computers in homes and offices.
The project is important for Microsoft because the company has maintained a strong presence in the PC market for a long time. Meanwhile, Apple is also working to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities through its new Mac computers.
For Nvidia, this development presents an opportunity to increase its share of the Windows laptop chip market, which has long been dominated by Intel and AMD. The company aims to strengthen its position in this sector through chips designed for artificial intelligence.
An event hosted by Microsoft in San Francisco is part of the two companies’ longstanding partnership. The collaboration aims to use AI chips to perform tasks such as computer coding and complex business projects directly on desktop and laptop computers.
The unveiling of the “Surface Laptop Ultra” by Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella and Nvidia head Jensen Huang will be a key part of the project.
However, according to experts, the device’s price remains a major question. The shortage of memory chips in recent times has increased computer hardware costs, raising questions about how affordable powerful AI laptops will be for ordinary consumers.
