Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi (Abaseen News): Monsoon rains and cloudburst incidents have triggered flood situations in various parts of the country, causing loss of life and property at several locations.
In Khyber, two vehicles were swept away by floodwaters caused by heavy rains. However, the women and children inside were rescued safely, while police said that three people are still missing.
According to police, another vehicle near Khogakhel Zakariya Mosque was also caught in a flood stream, but all passengers were safely rescued.
In Hafizabad, the water level in the River Chenab at Head Qadirabad continues to rise. The inflow was recorded at 138,000 cusecs while the outflow stood at 115,000 cusecs, resulting in low-level flooding in the area.
In Sammar Shib area of Layyah, two government schools were washed away due to erosion and strong currents of the River Indus. Hundreds of acres of crops and around 300 houses have been affected so far. Several settlements, mosques, electricity poles, and other government properties were also damaged by river water.
Monsoon rains also created difficulties for residents in areas around Hassan Abdal. The Kohliya Bridge, built by local people through self-help efforts, was washed away by strong floodwaters, disrupting connectivity between border villages of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Neelum Valley, severe flooding occurred in streams and rivers after a cloudburst, damaging houses and shops. Several vehicles and motorcycles near Mangal Stream were swept away, while livestock were also lost. Traffic flow on Neelum Highway was also affected.
In Jabouri area of Mansehra, a cloudburst damaged several hotels and residential buildings, while sudden flood streams disrupted daily life.
Tourists have been advised to stay away from the River Kunhar and other waterways due to the risk of flooding in sensitive areas including Kaghan Valley, Siran Valley, and surrounding regions.
Heavy rainfall was also recorded in Murree and Galiyat, bringing pleasant weather and a significant drop in temperature.
Meanwhile, in Chalt area of Nagar, Gilgit-Baltistan, four workers were killed and three others injured in a landslide.
According to rescue officials, the workers were returning home after work when a sudden landslide occurred, burying them under debris. The deceased included Shafqat from Layyah district of Punjab, Fida Hussain from Chalt Rabat, and two workers from Kohistan. Their bodies have been shifted to their native areas
