LAHORE (Pakistan News): Due to monsoon rains, water levels in Punjab’s rivers are continuously rising, resulting in flood-like conditions at various locations.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, low-level flooding has been reported in the Indus River at Tarbela and Chashma. Water flow at Tarbela has been recorded at 336,000 cusecs, while at Chashma it stands at 302,000 cusecs.
The Chenab River is also experiencing low-level flood conditions at Marala and Qadirabad. Water flow at Marala has been recorded at 195,000 cusecs, at Khanki at 262,000 cusecs, and at Qadirabad at 245,000 cusecs.
According to PDMA, water flow in the Sutlej and Jhelum rivers remains normal, while the water level in the Ravi River at Balloki has reached 73,000 cusecs.
Water flow in the Ravi River at Jassar, Shahdara, and Head Sidhhnai remains normal. A medium-level flood situation has been reported in Nullah Basantar in Narowal, while low-level flooding has been recorded in Nullah Bhimber in Gujrat and Nullah Palkhu in Wazirabad.
The Director General of PDMA said that increased water flow in rivers has occurred due to rainfall in the upper regions.
