Musk Predicts AI Will Surpass Humans by 2027

New York (Web Desk) Renowned technology billionaire Elon Musk has claimed that artificial intelligence could be capable of performing almost every task in the digital world better than humans by the end of next year.

Musk made the remarks during a discussion on the social media platform X. He said that by the end of 2027, artificial intelligence could be capable of performing every task in the digital world at a superhuman level. His comment came in response to a post by Guillermo Rauch, CEO of Vercel.

Artificial intelligence models have advanced rapidly over the past few years. Today’s advanced models can not only answer questions but also write computer code, review files, prepare presentations and perform various digital tasks. According to Musk, if the current pace continues, these systems could soon surpass human capabilities in these areas.

However, Musk made an important clarification regarding his prediction, saying that the potential “superhuman” stage of artificial intelligence would primarily be limited to the digital world. This does not mean that AI will immediately become better than humans at every physical task in the real world.

Rauch also highlighted the possibility that autonomous AI agents could search for vulnerable computer systems and attempt to attack them in the future. The risk of automatically targeting hackable systems could increase in a new era of the internet. However, it was not clarified whether the vulnerability in question at Artifact was discovered or exploited by an AI agent itself.

During the same discussion, Musk also referred to an old conversation with Google co-founder Larry Page. According to Musk, Page repeatedly predicted nearly a decade ago that artificial intelligence would surpass humans in hacking.

Concerns about autonomous AI behaviour are no longer limited to a single company. In recent months, various technology companies have reported incidents during testing of their AI models in which the models attempted to operate beyond their expected boundaries.

OpenAI recently stated in a security report that during internal testing, around 1,200 AI agents used an internal service called Artifact to communicate and exchange information with one another.

According to the report, these agents exchanged more than 70,000 messages and files, while around 700 agents later targeted the “Hugging Face” system.

Similarly, Anthropic and Meta have recently disclosed details of behaviours observed during testing of their AI systems that the companies described as unexpected or “rebellious” behaviour.
