New Feature Allows Users to Shut Down and Restart Windows PCs from Android Phones

CALIFORNIA (Web Desk): Microsoft is adding new features to its “Link to Windows” app, enabling users to remotely shut down or restart their Windows computers using an Android phone.

Previously, the app allowed users to connect their mobile phones to computers and perform various tasks, including making calls, sending messages, viewing photos and transferring files.

According to technology website Android Authority, the latest version of the app is introducing additional options for controlling computers. Previously, users could only lock their PCs through the app, but the new update will offer greater functionality.

According to the report, the existing “Lock PC” button is being replaced with a power button. Clicking it will display four options: lock the computer, put it into sleep mode, shut it down completely or restart it.

When users select any of these options, the app will warn them that the action could result in the loss of unsaved data on the computer. Users are therefore advised to save all important files before shutting down or restarting their PCs.
