Karachi (Commerce Desk) — The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has introduced a new low-cost investment plan under the Voluntary Pension Scheme, which will be offered from January 1, 2027.
The “PESO Equity Sub-Fund” aims to provide pension savers with an easy and low-cost option to invest in the stock market.
The new fund will invest by tracking a specified market index, while fund managers will be able to operate it either by directly tracking the index or by investing in exchange-traded funds listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The fund will be available alongside the existing equity, debt and money market sub-funds, giving savers the choice between active and passive investment. The annual management fee for the exchange-traded fund-based option will be capped at 0.75 percent.
According to SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, the initiative will provide better and more affordable opportunities for retirement savings and help further strengthen the national pension system.
