London (Sports Desk) — Fawad Sarwar, owner of the new Pakistan Super League franchise, strongly criticized the owners of the existing franchises during a meeting, saying that buying a team was not a favor to anyone, but instead enabled the owners to gain both financial benefits and fame.
According to details, a meeting of the PSL Governing Council was held in London in recent days, attended by Pakistan Cricket Board officials and franchise owners.
According to sources, during the meeting, after one owner made a sarcastic remark, Fawad Sarwar of Hyderabad Kingsmen responded to the owners of the existing franchises and asked why they always tried to portray themselves as victims.
Fawad Sarwar said that no one had done anyone a favor by purchasing a PSL franchise. According to him, the new franchise owners have already paid a significant portion of the amount that the existing owners spent over 10 years in just one year.
He said that if a franchise is still operating at a loss after such a long period, its owners should review their business strategy and the reasons behind it. He added that business opportunities and sponsors can also be sought abroad, so there is no need to claim favors.
Fawad Sarwar also told Pakistan Cricket Board officials that people associated with national cricket should be taught the proper way to communicate and engage in discussions, because inappropriate behavior brings disrepute to the country.
