New Transit of Goods Order Enforced, Cargo Allowed from Pakistan to Iran

Islamabad (Commerce Desk): The government has implemented the Transit of Goods Order 2026, under which the transportation of goods to Iran via Pakistan has been officially allowed.

According to the notification, new transit routes have been announced, designating Gwadar Port, Karachi Port, and Taftan Border Crossing for transit cargo operations.

The Ministry of Commerce stated that goods from third countries destined for Iran can now pass through Pakistan, while Gwadar Port has been given special status for commercial activities.

The notification further states that financial guarantees have been made mandatory for transit cargo, and customs procedures will be implemented under the rules of the Federal Tax Ombudsman.

The government said the purpose of this initiative is to promote regional trade and modernize transit facilitation systems in the country.
