No Empty Promises; Public Service Recognised Globally: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE (Pakistan News): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that her services to the province have received international recognition. She claimed that instead of making empty promises, she had taken practical steps to fulfil the dream of providing deserving families with homes of their own.

Addressing officers of Sindh’s administrative service in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan had given her respect and recognition, for which she was grateful to the country. She described administrative officers as a source of pride and said she worked with them as a team every day.

The chief minister said holding the office of chief minister was not merely about travelling in an official vehicle, adding that serving the public was her top priority. She said that despite difficulties, she worked every day with a commitment to public welfare and continued to make decisions aimed at improving people’s lives. Simply marking attendance at the office, avoiding difficult tasks and dealing only with easy matters did not constitute genuine public service, she added.

Maryam Nawaz said anyone holding public office must prioritise the public interest over personal interests. She claimed that she had never faced difficulties in running the affairs of Punjab’s government.

Referring to the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar housing scheme, she said an effective monitoring system had been established to ensure its success. Loans for home construction are released in phases, with the construction work inspected at every stage.

The Punjab chief minister further said she had not appointed any officer on the basis of recommendations and had consistently prioritised merit.
