Ongoing War on Any Front in the Region Threatens Peace, Says Iran

TEHRAN (Monitoring Desk): Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has said that ending fighting on all fronts is essential for lasting peace in the region, as continued conflict on even a single front means the entire region remains engulfed in war.

According to Iran’s IRNA news agency, Khatibzadeh made the remarks in an interview with Al Mayadeen TV, saying Iran was determined to secure an end to Israeli attacks on Lebanon. He said the issue was also included in the Islamabad memorandum of understanding reached between Iran and the United States in June.

He accused the United States and Israel of violating the Islamabad understanding by launching attacks on Iran and Lebanon. He said Israel could not be trusted to honour its commitments.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister described the US war against Iran as illegal under international law, stressing that Tehran remained determined to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He further revealed that Iran had also proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days.
