Pakistan and United States Agree to Expand Trade Cooperation

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) The United States has emphasized Pakistan’s important role in global trade and stressed the need to enhance bilateral trade cooperation.

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan said that Pakistan is committed to playing a responsible global role and promoting peace in the region. He added that Pakistan is keen to expand trade relations with the United States and increase cooperation in new sectors.

The US Trade Representative Rik Switzer appreciated Pakistan’s positive role in maintaining regional stability. During a virtual meeting between the two sides, detailed discussions were held on strengthening Pakistan–US trade cooperation.

The meeting also focused on expanding bilateral trade and the need for a balanced trade agreement. Both sides agreed that a mutually beneficial and future-oriented trade framework is essential.

On this occasion, Secretary of Commerce Jawad Paul stated that a strong, mutually based trade framework would help promote sustainable economic cooperation. He added that technical-level talks are ongoing, although further progress is still required on certain matters.
