Islamabad (Pakistan News): Pakistan has responded to India's position at the United Nations Security Council, stating that Jammu and Kashmir is neither an integral part of India nor an internal matter, but an international dispute.
During a Security Council meeting on the peaceful resolution of disputes, Pakistan Mission Counsellor Saima Saleem, exercising the right of reply, said that one delegation attempted to influence the discussion through distortion of facts, denial, and baseless allegations.
She said it was surprising for India to lecture others on peace, as according to Pakistan, India itself has been violating international law, United Nations Security Council resolutions, and principles related to regional peace.
Counsellor Saima Saleem said that India itself had brought the Jammu and Kashmir issue before the Security Council, but is now deviating from the same resolutions. She clarified that Security Council resolutions do not expire with the passage of time.
The Pakistani representative said that there is a significant difference between the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where one side has space for political activities while the other has continued reports of arrests and human rights concerns.
She further stated that the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people cannot be denied, while India's decision to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty is contrary to international principles and the United Nations Charter.
