Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar) — Following the alleged discovery of a global cyber fraud and obscene content network operated by foreigners in Pakistan, the federal government has decided to launch a nationwide crackdown on illegal call centers.
According to sources, a special task force will be formed under FIA Headquarters to investigate crimes including extortion, blackmail, gambling and online fraud. Daily reports of the operations will be submitted to the Ministry of Interior.
Sources said a list of call centers operating in Karachi has also been prepared, while all relevant institutions have been directed to fully cooperate with the task force.
It is worth mentioning that 284 foreign nationals were arrested during a raid on an illegal call center in Islamabad a few days ago.
