Lahore (Sports Desk) — The demand for tickets for the expected Pakistan-India clash at the 2027 Cricket World Cup has generated record interest at the initial stage, with more than 110,000 applications received so far.
More than 1.1 million ticket applications have been submitted for various matches of the World Cup, which will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The greatest enthusiasm for tickets has been seen for the match between Pakistan and India. More than 92,000 applications have been received for the South Africa-India match, while more than 86,000 applications have been submitted for the India-Australia clash.
Strong interest is also being seen in the pre-seeded Super 7 match between India and Pakistan scheduled for November 7, for which around 78,000 applications have already been submitted.
Meanwhile, around 69,000 ticket applications have also been received for the World Cup final to be held on November 21.
ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta said receiving one million applications in just over 48 hours since the ticket ballot opened was clear evidence of the growing global popularity and appeal of the Cricket World Cup.
According to him, major ICC events are no longer merely sporting competitions but have become global festivals that bring together people from different cultures and regions.
Chief Executive of the Organizing Committee Qondisa Ngoniya also expressed delight over the extraordinary demand for tickets, saying that more than one million applications reflected the exceptional desire of fans around the world to attend the tournament.
Registration for the ticket ballot will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Central African Time on November 21. Registration is completely free for fans, and an application can be submitted once for each match, while applications can also be made for multiple matches.
The ticket ballot will not operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so the timing of registration will have no impact on the chances of success. If more applications are received for a match than the number of tickets available, successful applicants will be selected through a random draw.
Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified at the email address provided during registration.
