Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Pakistani freelancers achieved a major milestone in the digital economy by earning a record foreign exchange of $1.76 billion during the fiscal year 2025–26.
According to official data, freelance export earnings recorded a significant 78 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
The figures show that in June 2026 alone, Pakistani freelancers earned $164 million, which was 69 percent higher than the same period last year.
According to the report, freelance export earnings stood at $985 million in fiscal year 2024–25, while they were recorded at $505 million in 2023–24 and $364 million in 2022–23.
Experts say the rapid growth of the freelancing sector reflects the expansion of Pakistan’s digital economy and the creation of new employment opportunities for young people.
