Pakistan’s First Lunar Rover Jinnah-1 to Land on Moon in 2028

Islamabad (Web Desk) — Chairman of the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) Yusuf Khan has said that Pakistan is rapidly moving toward self-reliance in the space sector and is now relying on its own satellites instead of European and Chinese satellites.

Addressing a World Space Week event, he said that Pakistan’s first lunar rover, “Jinnah-1,” will land on the Moon in 2028.

According to Yusuf Khan, World Space Week plays an important role in introducing young people to space technology, while Pakistan’s space programme has made significant progress over the past few years.

He said that in January 2025, Pakistan launched its satellite E-1 into space, while two more satellites were placed into orbit in July and October 2025.

According to the SUPARCO chairman, Pakistan’s six Earth-observation satellites are providing services in various fields and helping with agriculture, planning and natural disaster management.

He said satellite technology is also being used to improve internet and television coverage.
