Pakistan’s Trade Deficit Rises Over 15% to $10.79 Billion

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — Pakistan’s trade deficit increased by 15.13% to $10.792 billion during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

According to trade data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country’s imports increased by 13.21% from July to September.

The data showed that exports also increased by 10.84% during the same period. However, the trade deficit widened further because imports grew at a relatively higher rate.

According to the report, despite the increase in exports, the higher volume of imports kept pressure on the trade balance during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
