Partial Lunar Eclipse to Turn Moon 96% Reddish in August

Lahore (Web Desk) — A notable partial lunar eclipse will occur on the night of August 27 and 28, 2026, during which about 96 percent of the Moon will enter Earth’s shadow and appear reddish orange.

According to astronomers, the lunar eclipse will peak at 4:13 am UTC on August 28. It occurs when Earth comes between the Sun and Moon, casting its shadow on the Moon.

Red and orange rays passing through Earth’s atmosphere reach the Moon, causing it to appear red. It is safe to view the eclipse with the naked eye, and no special glasses are required.
