Peshawar School Tragedy: Case Registered Against Owners and Contractor

PESHAWAR (Pakistan News): A case has been registered at Agha Mir Jani Shah Police Station over the tragic collapse of school roofs in the Dair Colony area, naming the school owners, shareholders and the contractor responsible for constructing the building.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), 30 children and a female teacher were reported killed in the incident, while 52 people sustained injuries.

The FIR alleges that substandard construction materials were used in the school building, rendering it dilapidated and structurally unsuitable. It states that complaints had previously been raised about the deteriorating condition of the building’s walls and roofs. However, despite the children reportedly drawing attention to these issues, the school administration and owners allegedly failed to address the complaints.

According to the FIR, the roofs of a nursery classroom on the school’s second floor and rooms on the ground floor collapsed, causing loss of life and property damage.

The case states that the school building was constructed on a 16-marla plot owned by Waheed and Javed. The land was acquired on lease in 2024, after which the school building was constructed.

Police confirmed that the case had been registered against the school owners, shareholders and construction contractor. The FIR includes charges relating to causing death by negligence under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with Sections 148 and 149.

Police said efforts were underway to arrest the suspects named in the case.
