Petrol and Diesel Prices Rise Sharply Again

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — The federal government has once again issued a notification announcing an increase in the prices of petroleum products.

According to the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs5.58 per liter, while the price of diesel has risen by Rs4.18 per liter.

Following the latest increase, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs364.35 per liter, while diesel will cost Rs385.95 per liter.

According to the notification, the new prices will take effect from September 9, 2026, for one day only.

It may be recalled that the government had also increased the price of petrol by Rs12.90 per liter and diesel by Rs3.72 per liter just a day earlier.

Meanwhile, citizens have expressed strong dissatisfaction over the increase in petroleum prices. The public says inflation has already made life difficult, and the increase in petrol prices will also raise the prices of essential commodities and other goods, making it even harder for ordinary people to meet household expenses.
