Petrol Carries Rs130, Diesel Over Rs122 in Taxes and Margins

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) Ordinary citizens are facing severe economic pressure due to heavy taxes, levies, and various margins included in the prices of petroleum products. According to available data, consumers are paying a total of Rs130.75 per litre on petrol and Rs122.47 per litre on high-speed diesel in the form of taxes and various margins.

The basic cost of diesel is Rs245.82 per litre, while its fixed market price is Rs368.29. The difference of Rs122.47 between the two prices consists of levies, taxes, and various margins.

A few days ago, the government also increased the margin of petroleum dealers by Rs1.34 per litre. Following the increase, dealers’ margin on petrol and diesel rose from Rs8.64 to Rs9.98 per litre.
