PM Orders Immediate Steps to Cut Diesel Prices

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to immediately travel to Karachi, hold talks with oil refineries and provide relief to the public by reducing fuel prices.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik met with the Prime Minister. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Malik and Member of the National Assembly Hamza Shehbaz were also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the Petroleum Minister to immediately reach Karachi and begin negotiations with local oil refineries.

Shehbaz Sharif said effective measures should be taken to reduce the price of diesel produced by local refineries. He said a large quantity of diesel is produced within the country, so negotiations with refineries regarding the possibility of reducing prices should be completed soon.

The Prime Minister directed that immediate relief should be provided to the public through every possible means.
