Power Tariff Likely to Increase Further, Request Filed for 27 Paisa per Unit Hike

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) The Central Power Purchasing Agency has filed a request to increase electricity prices by 27 paisa per unit for consumers across the country, including Karachi, raising concerns of further inflationary pressure. According to the agency, a total of 8.939 billion units of electricity were generated during March, while 8.644 billion units were supplied to distribution companies. The documents state that the estimated fuel cost for March was set at 7.99 rupees per unit; however, the actual cost rose to 8.26 rupees per unit, prompting the request to pass on the additional burden to consumers.
