Preparations Complete for Possible Emergency or Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar (Pakistan Khabar) — All preparations have been completed to impose an emergency or Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while a proposal to impose an emergency in 12 districts of the province in the first phase is also under consideration.

According to sources, preparations for administrative changes, including the appointment of deputy commissioners and secretaries, have been completed. A list of appointments for regional and district police officers has also been prepared.

Sources say the final decision on imposing an emergency or Governor’s Rule depends on whether talks between the opposition and the government’s delegation succeed or fail. If negotiations between the opposition, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and the federal government succeed, an emergency or Governor’s Rule will not be imposed.

Important Meeting Expected in Islamabad

In view of the possible imposition of Governor’s Rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, members of the federal cabinet have been instructed to remain in Islamabad. According to sources, a federal cabinet meeting is likely to be convened soon.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior military officials are expected to attend the meeting. Reports from national security institutions will also be reviewed.

PTI Calls Emergency Meeting

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has called meetings of its central and core committees, which will be held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar. Senior party leaders will also attend.

The meeting will be chaired by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar. Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan, Junaid Akbar and other leaders are also expected to participate.

According to sources, the meeting will discuss a long march, negotiations with the government, and the possibility of imposing Governor’s Rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that he had set off for Peshawar to attend the meeting.
