Prime Minister Orders Ban on High-Octane Fuel in Government Vehicles

Lahore (Pakistan News) – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has imposed an immediate ban on the use of high-octane fuel in government vehicles. The decision comes in the wake of recent increases in petroleum levies.

According to the official statement, strict restrictions will be enforced on using high-octane fuel at government expense. If its use is absolutely necessary in any department, the concerned officer will be required to provide the fuel for their vehicle at personal cost. All federal departments, authorities, and subordinate offices have been instructed to implement this decision immediately.

The primary objective of this measure is to ensure efficient, transparent, and responsible use of national resources. Previously, fuel consumption in government vehicles had already been cut by 50%, and 60% of government vehicles had been grounded. The savings will be used to provide relief to the public and supply cheaper fuel.

The Prime Minister emphasized that strict adherence to austerity policies and reduction of unnecessary expenses is a pressing need, which will lower government spending and ensure better utilization of taxpayers’ money.
