Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launches ‘Apna Ghar Scheme’, announces loans up to 10 million on easy terms

Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally launched the “Prime Minister Apna Ghar Scheme” and distributed loan cheques among eligible individuals.

Under this scheme, loans of up to 10 million rupees are being provided on easy terms, and it will be implemented across all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the recipients of the scheme and said that providing shelter to the common man is a top priority of the government. He stated that it is the responsibility of the state and government to ensure housing facilities for every citizen, and this scheme has been initiated for that purpose.

According to the Prime Minister, loans under the scheme will be provided for a period of 20 years. A target of constructing 50,000 houses has been set for the first year, with plans to increase it to 500,000 houses in the coming years.

He added that the scheme has been developed in consultation with both the public and private sectors, and he will personally monitor its progress on a monthly basis.

The Prime Minister further said that the construction sector is the backbone of the national economy, and therefore this initiative is being seen as an important step towards economic recovery.
