Lahore (Sports Desk): Organizers of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are considering holding a new tournament to keep the league active throughout the year and further boost its popularity. The proposal involves introducing a cricket format featuring six players per team.
According to details, PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer has revealed that the proposed event could be named the “HBL PSL Sixes.” The tournament is being considered for the league’s off-season, although no final decision has been made yet.
According to Salman Naseer, this short-format event would not only provide entertainment and excitement for fans but could also help bring the PSL to smaller cities across Pakistan where league matches have not yet been held.
Through this initiative, the Pakistan Cricket Board also hopes to create new revenue opportunities for franchises and media partners. The move is expected to increase league activities and help the PSL reach a wider audience of cricket fans.
However, the availability of foreign players and the preparation of a suitable schedule will be major challenges in organizing the proposed tournament.
It is worth noting that PSL matches have so far been held in Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. The board aims to expand the league further, reach fans across the country and increase its popularity.
