PTA Inspects 115 Telecom Sites to Improve Mobile and Internet Services

Islamabad (Web Desk) — The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has stepped up its efforts to address complaints about disruptions in mobile and internet services across the country. The authority inspected 115 telecom sites during field monitoring surveys conducted over one week.

According to the PTA, network performance and service quality at mobile operators’ sites in various cities were assessed from September 30 to October 7, 2026.

According to the details released, the highest number of telecom sites, 39, were inspected in Lahore, followed by 17 in Karachi and 16 in Sukkur. Similarly, 14 sites each were inspected in Multan and Rawalpindi, eight in Quetta, four in Abbottabad and three in Gilgit.

During field monitoring, PTA teams assessed overall mobile network performance and the quality of voice calls and data services. They also checked network coverage and backup arrangements in the event of power outages. Teams investigated issues such as calls failing to connect, calls dropping during conversations and slow mobile internet speeds.

According to the PTA, consumer complaints were also reviewed to identify factors affecting mobile service quality. After identifying technical faults at mobile sites and towers during inspections, the relevant operators were instructed to take corrective measures to resolve the problems.

The authority said it was also coordinating with local administrations, elected representatives and relevant communities to address complaints about mobile services. According to the PTA, noticeable improvements in mobile service quality have been observed in areas where telecom sites were inspected, while operators’ performance continues to be monitored.

The PTA emphasised that telecom operators are being continuously monitored to further improve the quality and availability of mobile services. The authority said these measures aim to provide consumers with better and more reliable telecom services and ensure that problems affecting mobile calls and internet connectivity are resolved.
