Islamabad (Pakistan News): Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said it would be better for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership and its political future if the party moved beyond the influence of social media.
Speaking to Geo News at Parliament House, Khawaja Asif said he could not comment on remarks made by another Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader about Maulana Fazlur Rehman. However, he said Maulana Fazlur Rehman had made strong statements and that he had already criticised those remarks from a political standpoint.
The Defence Minister said there was no policy of permanently closing all avenues for a return to politics. Friends of today could become enemies tomorrow, just as yesterday’s enemies could become today’s friends.
Khawaja Asif said voices were also emerging from within the PTI calling for the party to pursue politics instead of confrontation. According to him, the party could have greater room to manoeuvre in the political arena if it focused on political activities.
He reiterated that it would be better for the PTI leadership to break free from the influence of social media.
