SAHIWAL (Pakistan News): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that Punjab is entering the modern era of artificial intelligence (AI), while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains in the Stone Age.
Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony for students in Sahiwal, Maryam Nawaz said those who claimed to educate and enlighten the public had instead ruined people’s lives. She maintained that no one had ousted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government; rather, it had brought about its own downfall.
She said it was the first long march in which the movement came to an end after its own government was removed. “Have we ever seen one province attack another province or the federal government?” she asked. According to her, it was the first long march that ended up damaging its own government. She added that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would now learn what development really meant.
The Punjab chief minister said she had left home with a commitment to public service. She credited Nawaz Sharif with building an extensive network of motorways across the country and said people arriving from other provinces also appreciated the public service provided by various Punjab government departments.
Maryam Nawaz said several officials from Karachi had visited Punjab the previous day and observed how the province’s departments focused on serving the public.
She announced that 3,000 electric buses would be introduced across Punjab, with fares remaining at Rs20. Electric bus services would be made available in every tehsil of the province. She added that almost every development project in Punjab involved young people in some capacity.
The chief minister said the monthly instalment for scooters provided to students had been set at Rs3,000 to prevent placing an excessive financial burden on them.
She also said AI laboratories were being established across Punjab as the province moved into the era of modern technology.
Maryam Nawaz further stated that when she assumed office, she discovered that vice-chancellors had not been appointed at 80 percent of the province’s universities. She claimed that every university now had a vice-chancellor appointed on merit. She added that she would not accept recommendations or favouritism even if they came from her own family.
According to Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government takes its services directly to the people, with the objective of ensuring that every citizen receives facilities at their doorstep. She said medicines were also being delivered directly to residents’ homes across the province.
