Qatar Demands Iran Immediately Halt Attacks in Strait of Hormuz

Doha (Monitoring Desk): Qatar has called on Iran to immediately halt attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and ensure freedom of international shipping, saying that negotiations and peaceful diplomacy are the only solution to the crisis between the United States and Iran.

According to an international news agency, Ibrahim bin Sultan Al-Hashimi, Director of the Department of Communication and Media at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that an early and peaceful resolution to the crisis was in the interests of all countries in the region, as the consequences of escalating tensions would not be confined to any single country.

He stressed that Iran must respect freedom of maritime navigation under international law and keep the Strait of Hormuz open to international traffic. He said that attacks and disruptions in this vital waterway were harming the interests of the entire region and its people.

The Qatari official warned that internet shutdowns in the region would affect all countries and that Iran itself could also suffer serious consequences.

He said that finding a peaceful solution through negotiations was essential to maintaining regional security and stability. Qatar supports diplomatic efforts to facilitate negotiations between the United States and Iran so that the concerns of both sides can be addressed and a lasting solution to the crisis can be achieved.

It is worth noting that Qatar has previously called for the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the preservation of free movement along maritime routes. The waterway is of critical importance to global oil and gas supplies.
