Quetta (Pakistan News) The Young Doctors have announced a protest against the acid attack on a lady doctor, stating that from today all medical services in government hospitals across the province will be suspended except emergency services.
In a press conference, the Young Doctors described the incident as a serious security failure and demanded an impartial and transparent investigation.
On the other hand, Balochistan’s Deputy Interior Minister Babar Yousafzai said that doctors should choose the path of negotiations with the Health Department instead of protests. According to him, the closure of wards and OPDs will cause severe difficulties for patients, and no attempt to blackmail the government will be allowed to succeed. He further said that the investigation of the incident is ongoing and it is also being examined with whom the accused was in contact.
It should be noted that the female doctor who was a victim of acid violence at Sandeman Hospital in Quetta has been shifted to a private hospital in Karachi for better treatment, where she has initially been placed in the intensive care unit due to injuries on her neck, head, and face.
Meanwhile, authorities said that the alleged accused has been killed in a police encounter, while the Balochistan Health Minister stated that the accused had been harassing the victim doctor for a long time and evidence of harassment has also been found in his mobile phone.
