Peshawar (Pakistan News): During the last 24 hours, heavy rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have killed 12 people and injured 15 others in various incidents.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the deceased include 6 men, 5 children, and one woman, while the injured include 8 men, 2 women, and 5 children.
According to PDMA, heavy rains and floodwaters damaged a total of 14 houses, including 13 partially damaged homes and one completely destroyed house.
According to the report, rain-related incidents occurred in different districts of the province, including Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Lower Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar, and Kurram.
PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant institutions are engaged in relief activities in affected areas and are continuously monitoring the situation.
The Director General of PDMA has instructed the administrations of affected districts to immediately provide relief supplies to victims and further speed up rescue and relief operations.
According to PDMA, water levels and flow in all major rivers, streams, and waterways of the province are currently normal; however, the Meteorological Department has forecast that the rain spell may continue intermittently until July 23.
PDMA has already issued instructions to all district administrations to remain alert. The public has been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, refrain from visiting sensitive tourist locations, and follow safety instructions and alerts issued by government institutions.
