Islamabad (Commerce Desk) According to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the country witnessed a record number of new company registrations during the month of April.
The SECP reported that a total of 4,082 new companies were registered in a single month, bringing the total number of registered companies in Pakistan to 294,101.
The report stated that on April 30 alone, 340 companies were registered in a single day, setting a new daily record. According to the SECP, investors from 22 countries established new companies in Pakistan, including 95 shareholders from China.
The total paid-up capital of companies registered from China was reported to be 193 million rupees.
On a provincial level, Punjab led with 2,093 new companies, followed by Islamabad with 719, Sindh with 600, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 325, Gilgit-Baltistan with 276, and Balochistan with 69 companies.
In terms of sectors, the IT and e-commerce sector led with 832 new companies. This was followed by trading (757), services (490), real estate and construction (358), tourism (242), food and beverages (158), education (127), and textiles (105).
SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Sadiq said that the increase in company registrations reflects positive progress toward a documented economy in the country.
