Lahore (Showbiz Desk) — A discussion about prayers by Pakistani religious scholar Dr. Ali Waqar Qadri on a private television program has come under severe criticism on social media, where some users described his words as inappropriate and demanded an apology.
Speaking with host Bilal Qutb on the private television program “Qutb Online,” Dr. Ali Waqar Qadri discussed the tendency among Muslims to rely only on prayers while avoiding practical measures.
He said that Muslims pray to Allah for victory in Gaza, the destruction of Israel, and an end to corruption in Pakistan, but when they themselves face a difficulty, they begin looking toward the United States.
During the conversation, the religious scholar said, “Allah must be laughing at these prayers of ours.” However, explaining his statement, he said that Allah Almighty has given human beings intellect, the Book, principles for living, and the right path; therefore, practical efforts are also necessary along with prayer.
Citing the example of the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH), he said that they remained present in the field of action and engaged in practical struggle along with worship and prayer.
However, social media users strongly reacted to Dr. Ali Waqar Qadri’s use of the word “laughing” in reference to Allah Almighty.
Some users also objected to the reactions of other people present on the program and described their laughter during the conversation as inappropriate, emphasizing the need to respect religious sensitivities.
