Lahore (Sports Desk): Renowned Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has issued an explanation regarding the reason for leaving the national team’s training camp, following reports of differences between him and new head coach Jorge Jesus.
In a statement on a social media platform, Ronaldo said that he decided to leave the camp following the coach’s press conference and a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.
The footballer said that when the appropriate time comes, he will inform the people of Portugal about the reasons behind his decision.
The matter came to light after Ronaldo was not given the opportunity to play in the Nations League match against Norway.
Meanwhile, new head coach Jorge Jesus had previously said that no unpleasant incident had occurred between Ronaldo and him. However, he acknowledged that Ronaldo was unhappy with his decision.
Ronaldo has left the camp, meaning Portugal will have to take the field without its captain in the upcoming Nations League matches. According to the Portuguese Football Federation, the remaining players will continue their preparations as usual.
