Russia launches heavy attack on Ukraine; 9 killed and dozens injured in Kyiv and other cities

Kyiv, Moscow (Commerce Desk) The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has intensified, as Russian air, missile, and drone strikes have killed at least 9 people and injured more than 60 in Kyiv and several other major cities across Ukraine.

According to Ukrainian authorities, Russian attacks targeted energy facilities and civilian infrastructure, causing widespread destruction and forcing thousands of residents to move to safer locations and underground metro stations.

In the southeastern city of Dnipro, at least 5 people were killed and 25 injured in missile and drone strikes, with all the injured shifted to hospitals.

In the capital Kyiv, at least 4 people were killed and 51 injured, including children. Officials said a 24-storey residential building was hit, partially collapsing one section of the structure, with fears that more people may still be trapped under the rubble.

In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, drone and missile attacks also injured 10 people, including a child.

On the other hand, Russia claimed that the attacks were a response to an alleged Ukrainian strike in Luhansk last month, while Ukraine has denied any involvement.

Russian authorities said a drone attack on an oil refinery in the southern Krasnodar region caused a fire, while reports of drone attacks also emerged at the Sevastopol naval base in Crimea.

The more than four-year-long Russia-Ukraine war has seen a significant increase in aerial strikes in recent months, severely damaging both countries’ infrastructure and energy facilities.
