Karachi (Showbiz Desk) — Renowned actress and host Sadia Imam, who has acted in numerous dramas in the past, has revealed that during her showbiz career she faced betrayal and neglect from close male colleagues and friends.
Speaking on a private television channel’s morning show, Sadia Imam said that when she entered showbiz, there were very few female artists. Most actresses in the industry were either senior performers or newcomers, while there were very few artists of her age and standing.
She said that most of her colleagues at the time were men, and some of her close friends among them betrayed her, attempted to harm her behind her back on certain occasions and spoke against her.
Sadia Imam said her father had always advised her that it was better to remain alone than to have fake friends. However, she did not understand the importance of this advice at the time because she felt she needed people around her. With time, she learned a lot from these experiences and eventually overcame the difficult period.
According to the actress, she heard her male colleagues talking about her on several occasions. Some people reportedly said that Sadia Imam should not be included in certain projects because she was not a “party girl” and did not socialize much during shoots.
She said that during that period, actors also had to travel abroad for drama shoots, and some colleagues disagreed with her lifestyle and behavior. Some people wanted girls around them who were more friendly with them, which resulted in her being removed from certain projects or being given secondary roles.
Sadia Imam said what hurt her most was the behavior of people who were extremely close to her, visited her home, ate meals with her and spent time with her, but continued speaking against her behind her back.
