Lahore (Sports Desk): Sameer Hussain, the hockey coach of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, has been included in the coaching panel of Pakistan’s national junior hockey team, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Under his coaching, the university’s hockey team achieved notable success in competitions organized by the Higher Education Commission and other tournaments, leading to recognition of his abilities at the national level.
University Chancellor Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor Irum Akbar Ali Khan, Registrar Syed Sarfaraz Ali, and Director Sports Mubashir Mukhtar, along with other officials, congratulated him on his appointment, stating that he truly deserves this honor due to his hard work, experience, and dedication.
They expressed hope that under Sameer Hussain’s leadership, Pakistan’s junior hockey team will achieve further success and bring pride to the country. They also termed it a matter of pride for the university to have him associated with the institution.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Hockey Federation, after approval from President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and on the recommendations of the Professional Development Committee, has formally announced the coaching and management panels for the national senior, junior, and under-18 teams.
For the national senior team, Olympian Manzoor-ul-Hassan has been appointed as head coach. The coaching staff also includes Olympians Khawaja Muhammad Junaid, Wasim Ahmad, international player Adnan Zakir, Mazhar Abbas as goalkeeping coach, and Olympian Shakeel Abbasi.
