Washington (Monitoring Desk) — The United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said that any easing of economic sanctions imposed on Iran will be carried out gradually and in phases. Addressing the Reagan National Economic Forum, he stated that whatever sanctions are lifted will not be removed immediately but will instead be eased step by step so that the effects of the policy can be managed in a better way.
He claimed that under the economic policy initiated during President Donald Trump’s leadership, US authorities have also seized approximately $1 billion worth of digital financial assets linked to Iran.
According to the US Treasury Secretary, these measures are aimed at maintaining economic pressure on Iran and ensuring transparency in the financial system.
Experts say such statements could further increase global financial and political tensions, while reactions from Iran on this matter are still awaited.
