Saudi Arabia, Houthis Yet to Respond to Iran’s Mediation Offer

Tehran (Monitoring Desk) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis have not yet responded to Iran’s offer to mediate an end to the fighting.

According to Al Jazeera, Abbas Araghchi said in a television interview that Iran had offered to mediate between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis to end the ongoing fighting and pave the way for negotiations. However, neither side has responded so far.

The Iranian foreign minister warned that if Egypt also became involved in the conflict, the situation would become more complicated. He said military intervention by any foreign country could increase tensions in the region.

The statement comes at a time when fighting between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia in Yemen has intensified.

Egypt has expressed its willingness to provide the necessary assistance to protect Saudi Arabia’s security, raising concerns about the possible involvement of more countries in the conflict.

Iran has previously offered to facilitate negotiations between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. Tehran maintains that the conflict should be resolved through diplomatic efforts rather than military operations.
