Saudi Arabia Issues, Then Withdraws Alert for Four Cities

Riyadh (Monitoring Desk): Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense issued an emergency alert over a potential threat in four areas in the western part of the country—Makkah, Jeddah, Taif, and the coastal city of Yanbu—but withdrew it just a few minutes later.

According to the Agence France-Presse (AFP), Civil Defense initially instructed residents in the affected areas to move immediately to the nearest safe location.

Makkah is the holiest city for Muslims, while Jeddah is a major Saudi city located on the Red Sea coast.

Caution Urged Even After Alert Is Withdrawn

Despite withdrawing the alert, Saudi Civil Defense urged residents to remain cautious. Authorities also reiterated their legal warning against sharing images or information on social media or other platforms related to the interception of missiles and drones or operations against them.

The report did not provide details about the reason for the sudden emergency alert, the presence of any missiles or drones, or possible damage. No casualties or property damage were reported in the affected areas after the alert was withdrawn.
