California (Web Desk): Scientists have claimed that they have successfully developed the blackest coating ever created for cars, capable of absorbing almost all visible light.
According to experts, an object appears darker when it absorbs the maximum amount of visible light. According to the University of California, Santa Barbara, the more light a surface absorbs, the darker it appears.
According to research published in the journal Cell Press, the new coating has been designed to absorb a much wider range of light wavelengths than previous coatings.
The report states that traditional black coatings relied solely on carbon black to absorb light, which limited the level of darkness they could achieve. However, the new technology uses a method called structural absorption, which significantly enhances the material’s ability to absorb light.
According to the researchers, this advanced approach enables the new material to absorb 99.9 percent of visible light, making it one of the blackest coatings ever developed for automobiles.
