Rawalpindi (Pakistan News): Security forces killed 24 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in Bannu and adjoining areas.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), following recent terrorist activities, attacks on police, and a vehicle-borne suicide bombing in Bannu district, security forces launched extensive joint operations in coordination with law enforcement agencies.
The ISPR stated that during the last 24 hours, 24 terrorists were killed after intense exchanges of fire in Bannu and nearby areas. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the deceased terrorists.
The statement said that the killed terrorists were involved in multiple terrorist activities and the killing of innocent citizens. Clearance and intelligence-based operations will continue in the area, while those responsible for the attacks and their facilitators will be brought to justice.
According to the ISPR, under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam in accordance with the National Action Plan approved by the Federal Apex Committee, operations against terrorism will continue with full force to completely eliminate terrorism supported by external elements.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the security forces and law enforcement agencies for successful operations in Bannu and adjoining areas.
The President said successful operations against terrorists reflect the professional capabilities, determination, and sacrifices of security forces. He stated that action against terrorists and their facilitators would be taken to its logical conclusion, and those targeting citizens and law enforcement personnel do not deserve any leniency.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the timely and effective operations of security forces, saying that eliminating terrorism is the government’s top priority and the nation stands with its brave personnel.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the successful operation against terrorists in Bannu is evidence of the professionalism and courage of security forces. He added that intelligence-based operations are essential for establishing peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.
