Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar) Following the abduction of 10 Pakistani citizens by Somali pirates, the government of Somalia has formally assured Pakistan of its cooperation in writing.
According to diplomatic sources, the Somali government has indicated full support in ensuring the safe return of the Pakistani citizens. Pakistan had formally raised the issue with the Somali authorities, upon which Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, also sent a letter to the Somali ambassador. The Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed receipt of the letter and stated that the matter is being reviewed in detail.
According to sources, more than 10 Pakistani crew members, including citizens from Karachi, are being held hostage after pirates seized the vessel Hunar 25.
On the other hand, the families of the abducted individuals are in severe distress and have demanded immediate and effective action from the government.
