California (Web Desk): Sony has announced that it will stop producing physical discs for new PlayStation games from January 1, 2028, after which all new titles will be available only in digital format.
According to the company, consumers will be able to purchase new PlayStation games released after 2028 exclusively through the PlayStation Store and other authorized digital platforms.
Sony said the decision reflects the growing preference for digital downloads and changing gaming habits among consumers.
The company added that the move will better align its strategy with the evolving needs of the modern gaming community while further promoting digital distribution.
According to the announcement, games released before January 1, 2028, will not be affected by the decision, while all new PlayStation titles launched after that date will be available exclusively in digital format.
