Lahore (Sports Desk): South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by 48 runs in the final of the T20I tri-series played in Namibia to claim their first trophy of the ongoing season.
This was South Africa’s third consecutive victory over Zimbabwe in the last eight days.
Despite having a squad consisting of experienced players, the South African team once again scored more than 200 runs. Lhuan-dre Pretorius did not feature in the match due to injury, but Connor Esterhuizen and Jordan Hermann provided the team with a strong start through an 84-run partnership. Later, Ruben Hermann and Dewald Brevis added 47 runs for the fifth wicket.
In pursuit of the target, Zimbabwe’s batting ran into trouble from the very beginning, with six of their players dismissed for just 57 runs.
Brad Evans put up resistance with an unbeaten innings of 56 runs, but his effort was not enough to lead his team to victory.
It should be noted that besides South Africa and Zimbabwe, the host Namibia team also participated in the tri-series.
