Spain Ends Ronaldo's World Cup Dream

Dallas (Sports Desk): In the pre-quarterfinal stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Spain defeated Portugal 0-1 to secure a place in the quarterfinals, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s dream of winning the World Cup remained unfulfilled once again.

In the knockout match played at the Dallas Football Stadium, Spain displayed better performance against Portugal. Spain made 15 attacks on the opponent’s goal compared to Portugal’s 10 attempts.

During the match, young player Lamine Yamal showcased his abilities on one side, while experienced Cristiano Ronaldo remained the center of Portugal’s hopes on the other. Lamine Yamal troubled the Portuguese defense on several occasions and provided excellent passes to his teammates, but those opportunities could not be converted into goals.

The first half of the match ended goalless, while both teams made strong efforts to score in the second half as well. However, Spain’s decisive attack secured victory for the team and brought Portugal’s World Cup journey to an end.
